Clayton Riddell -Executive Chairman

Mr. Riddell is the Executive Chairman of Paramount and has been a director since 1978.  Until May 2015 he was also the CEO and up until June 2002 he was also the President. He is the Executive Chairman of the Board of Perpetual Energy Inc., the Chairman of the Board of Trilogy Energy Corp., and a director of Tourmaline Oil Corp., all of which are public oil and gas exploration and production companies.

Mr. Riddell graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Geology and is currently a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta, the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists, and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists.  He received the J.C. Sproule Memorial Plaque from the Canadian Institute of Mining (1994), the Stanley Slipper Gold Medal from the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists (1999), an Honorary Doctor of Science degree from the University of Manitoba (2004), and an Outstanding Explorer award from the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (2004).  In 2006, Mr. Riddell was inducted into the Calgary Business Hall of Fame and in 2008 he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada.

James Riddell - President and Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Riddell is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Paramount and has been a director of the Company since 2000. From June 2002 until May 2015 he was also the Chief Operating Officer. From May 1991 until June 2002, he held various positions at Paramount.

Mr. Riddell is a director and the CEO of Trilogy Energy Corp. and a director of Strategic Oil & Gas Ltd., Marquee Energy Ltd. (all three of which are public oil and gas exploration and production companies) and Great Prairie Energy Services Inc. (a public energy service company).  Mr. Riddell is also a director of Big Rock Brewery Inc. (a public company which produces and markets beer).

Mr. Riddell graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology and from the University of Alberta with a Master of Science degree in Geology and is currently a member of the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists.

Bernard Lee - Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Lee has been the Chief Financial Officer of Paramount Resources Ltd. since May 2003.  He was instrumental in the spin-off of Trilogy Energy Trust (now Trilogy Energy Corp.) in 2005 and was its Chief Financial Officer until June 2006.  Prior to joining Paramount, Mr. Lee held various senior finance positions with Alberta Energy Company Ltd. and its successor EnCana Corporation.

Mr. Lee graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Commerce degree (with distinction) and a Master of Business Administration degree.  He has also completed the Ivey Executive Program offered by the University of Western Ontario.  Mr. Lee was granted the designation of Certified Management Accountant in 1979 by the Society of Certified Management Accountants of Canada.

Mitch Shier - General Counsel, Corporate Secretary and Manager, Land

Mitch Shier is General Counsel, Corporate Secretary and Manager, Land of Paramount Resources Ltd., which he joined in November 2008. From 2002 until January 2009, Mr. Shier practiced oil and gas and commercial law as a partner with a national law firm. Prior to 2002, he practiced as a partner with other major law firms in Calgary. He has over 28 years of legal experience with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions and energy and environmental law.

Mr. Shier is currently on the board of directors of Trilogy Energy Corp. and Alaris Royalty Corp.

Mr. Shier obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Calgary in1981, his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Alberta in 1984 and his Master of Laws in Environmental and Natural Resources Law from the University of Calgary in 1994.

Lloyd Doyle - Corporate Operating Officer

Mr. Doyle has been in Paramount’s employ since 2000, and took on his current role as Corporate Operating Officer for the Northern Operating Unit in 2002. Lloyd has accumulated over 28 years of oil and gas experience, starting with a service company and then national and multi-national E&P focused companies.

Lloyd Doyle graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1983 and was admitted to the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta as a Professional Engineer in 1988.  Mr. Doyle is currently a member of Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta and the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Geoff McMillan - Corporate Operating Officer

Mr. McMillan is a professional geologist with over 28 years  experience in the oil and gas industry. He joined Paramount in 1998 as a geologist, and has held his present position as Corporate Operating Officer responsible for the Southern Operating Unit since late 2003.

Mr. McMillan graduated from the University of Alberta in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science (Honors) degree in Geology, and is a member of Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta, American Association of Petroleum Geologists and RMAG.

Darrel Purdy - Corporate Operating Officer

Mr. Purdy has over 33 years of experience in the Canadian oil and gas industry.  Prior to joining the Paramount management team in 2006 Mr. Purdy helped negotiate the creation of Central Alberta Midstream and was a Vice President  of Business Development with the company and its subsequent owner SemCAMS from 2000 to 2006.  During his career Mr. Purdy also worked for twenty years with Amoco Canada and BP in a wide range of technical and leadership roles.

Mr. Purdy is a graduate of the University of Calgary, Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree  in 1980. Mr. Purdy is a member of Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta and during his career has been a volunteer director of various industry associations including the Gas Processing Association of Canada, the Canadian Heavy Oil Associations, the Petroleum Society of C.I.M and a member of the ERCB Fund Advisory Committee.

Joerg Wittenberg - Corporate Operating Officer

Joerg Wittenberg has been engaged as a geologist in oil and gas exploration and development for over 20 years. Mr .Wittenberg joined Paramount Resources in 2002 after having previously contributed to the success of variety of intermediate Canadian upstream oil and gas firms as a petroleum geologist.  Joerg has held the position of Corporate Operating Officer for the Grande Prairie business unit since 2008. Mr. Wittenberg also serves as an independent director of a publicly traded junior oil and gas company.

Mr. Wittenberg graduated from The University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) and Master of Science degrees in Geology (1988, 1992). Mr. Wittenberg is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta, the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists, and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists.

Phil Tahmazian - Vice President, Midstream

Phil Tahmazian has over 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry.  Mr. Tahmazian joined Paramount in early 2013 after 13 years at Encana where his most recent role was Vice President, Canadian Midstream.  Prior to that, he worked at Petro Canada and TransCanada Pipelines in both engineering and commercial roles.

Mr. Tahmazian is a graduate of the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree (1986) and Bachelor of Commerce in Finance degree (1988). He is also a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta.

Paul Kinvig - Vice President, Finance, Controller

Mr. Kinvig is the Vice President Finance and Controller of Paramount Resources Ltd. He is a Chartered Accountant with over 20 years of experience in progressively senior finance, accounting and tax roles. Prior to joining Paramount in 2005, Mr. Kinvig was a Senior Tax Manager at an international firm of Chartered Accountants, where he advised clients on corporate tax matters, including planning, acquisitions and compliance. Prior thereto, he worked in the corporate finance group of a senior oil and gas company, where his work focused on acquisitions and financings.

Mr. Kinvig graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1994 and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta.

Laurel Friesen - Assistant Corporate Secretary

Laurel Friesen is a Certified General Accountant and has been employed by Paramount Resources Ltd. since its inception in December 1978.  Ms. Friesen is also Manager, Administration.
