INSTRUMENTATION TECHNICIAN – GRANDE PRAIRIE

About this Opportunity

Reporting to the Maintenance Foreman, the Instrumentation Technician will be a key member of the Maintenance team to provide instrumentation maintenance in a busy area with continuous new development. The successful candidate will preferably reside in the Grande Prairie area.

Job functions will involve:

  • Environment, Health and Safety must be a priority
  • Support Maintenance Foreman in delivery of professional support services to Operations
  • Support and initiate safe work practices, following all Paramount policies and procedures
  • Instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting of oilfield and plant control equipment (pneumatic and electronic)
  • Performance of preventative maintenance, shutdowns, gas detection, metering, and controls as related to sour gas facilities, field batteries, satellites, gas and oil wells
  • Calibrate, troubleshoot and repair SCADA systems, including Bristol, Fisher, Barton
  • Maintain a high standard of workmanship, safety awareness and housekeeping

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Must possess a valid Alberta Journeyman Instrumentation Certificate or Interprovincial Red Seal equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a related role
  • Knowledge of operations (sweet and sour) in areas of plant, field, construction, pipelines or a combination thereof
  • Experience with rebuild and repair of control valves, ESDs, level controls and dump valves
  • Experience with SCADA installations and PLC programming would be an asset
  • Strong computer skills, and experience with a CMMS (Maximo) would be an asset
  • Highly motivated, able to work in a team environment
  • Strong commitment to Health, Safety and the Environment
  • Self-starter who can work independently with a minimal supervision
  • Strong troubleshooting and decision-making skills
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Valid safety tickets including First Aid, H2S, WHMIS, and TDG
  • Ability to work within deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Will be required to work 7 days on and 7 days off, working 11.50-hour days. Must be willing to work overtime when required

OPERATIONS ACCOUNTANT

About this Opportunity

Reporting to the Supervisor, Operations Accounting, this position will be well suited for a well-rounded individual in operations accounting providing various levels of support, using their solid background with PASC, CAPL, and PJVA agreements, in managing the below responsibilities.  

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and record all Paramount’s annual operated equalizations and 13th month adjustments
  • Assist with the review of Paramount’s non-operated equalizations and 13th month adjustments
  • Work with the Audit Coordinator and other stakeholders to ensure the timely resolution of audit queries
  • Monitor and prepare payout statements
  • Assist with the accounting & reporting of Paramount’s inventory yards
  • Analyze and process assigned Joint Interest Billings
  • Interpret complex contracts and implement accounting treatments as required
  • Analyze workflows and implement improvements
  • Some travel to field locations may be required

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education with major in Business, Finance, or Accounting
  • 7-10 years of direct oil and gas experience
  • Solid understanding of PASC, CAPL, and PJVA agreements
  • Must have a clear understanding of Service Agreements and their administration
  • Knowledge and experience working with Q-Byte FM, PAS, Avocet and Equalizer
  • Preference will be given to candidates with prior audit & inventory management experience
  • Must be highly analytical, detail-oriented and organized, with excellent judgment and decision-making ability
  • Able to meet tight deadlines and manage competing priorities
  • Possess excellent communication skills
  • Must be a dedicated team player, demonstrate a sound work ethic, and have ability to interact diplomatically with people at all levels of the organization

SENIOR OPTIMIZATION TECHNICIAN

About this Opportunity

Reporting to the Supervisor, Production Engineering, the Senior Optimization Technician will play a key role supporting various fields around Fox Creek, AB through troubleshooting and optimization of oil and gas wells with a variety of artificial lift types. This position will work closely with Production Engineering and Operations teams to provide critical data to devise well specific solutions and interventions.

Job functions will involve:

  • Maintaining and enhancing production volumes while remaining highly conscious of safety, environment and regulatory requirements, and operating costs
  • Contribute to the team achievement of meeting business, environmental, health and safety targets
  • Troubleshoot and optimize production on variety of artificial lift types (rod lift, gas lift, plunger lift)
  • Manage the XSPOC programming & troubleshooting for ~170 oil wells
  • Troubleshoot communication issues within the field
  • Common tasks may include:
    • Conducting slickline operations on wells
    • Dewaxing and descaling wells with hot water, solvent and/or acid
    • Running plungers including bumper spring install and/or retrieval
    • Setting up and troubleshooting artificial lift systems
    • Resource prioritization

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 8 years combined experience in a well optimization and/or well servicing role
  • Experience with highly instrumented and automated equipment
  • Strong knowledge of artificial lift systems
  • Completed or willing to complete SAIT Field Progression training requirements
  • Self-starter and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Positive attitude and a sense of teamwork
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience with XSPOC, Wonderware, SCADAvantage, and Wellview
  • Ability to work on a rotational shift (8 days on and 6 off) and be on call
  • Must reside within the Fox Creek area for reasonable call-out response
  • Wellsite supervisor tickets: WSBOP, First Aid CPR & AED, H2S Alive
